What To Expect
By offering high quality acupuncture at affordable prices, patients will have the ability to be treated one, two or even three times per week.
A community clinic model is different from private practice in that the intake for an initial treatment in private practice will usually last for 45 minutes whereas in the community model an initial intake lasts 15 minutes. In private practice most patients are only able to stay for 20 minutes with the needles in, however at a community clinic, patients are encouraged to stay for 45 to 90 minutes. Longer retention of the needles provides a greater benefit for chronic conditions.
Our facility has room for 6 full body treatments all in one large treatment room.
After we have assessed your condition we will discuss a treatment plan. For most conditions it is recommended that you come in between 8-12 times. The best results are seen if someone is committed to receiving acupuncture 1-3 times per week (depending on their condition). Although it is likely you will see results after the first treatment it may take a few treatments for your body to integrate the lasting benefits of acupuncture. Many patients like to use acupuncture for health maintenance coming in weekly, bi-monthly, monthly or even seasonally after the initial course of their treatment is completed.
We may also use cupping. Cupping is when the acpuncturist suctions glass cups onto the body (usually the back). There are 2 forms of cupping used. Moving cups, which utilizes oil, allowing the cups to move back and forth over a tight muscle. This form feels like a gentle massage. Stationary cups may also be used. This is when cups are left on a specific area for several minutes. Cupping can leave bruising though it should not cause any pain. The bruising dissipates in a few days without scarring.
